The Wounded Warrior Patrol is operated entirely by non-paid volunteers. You do not have to be a ski patroller or even know how to ski or snowboard. We are always seeking volunteers who are willing to do one or all of the following:
• Seek out Wounded Warriors and Veterans to attend our annual family ski
week program
• Promote our non-profit organization and annual family ski event
• Support and staff our fund raising and awareness activities throughout the year
• Participate on organizational committees
When and where is the Main Event?
Since it began in 2011, our main event has been held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. Other fund-raising and awareness events may be held throughout the year. To see a list of Upcoming Events, check this websites homepage.
What will it cost me?
To volunteer for the main event at Seven Springs, you will need to supply your own transportation and lodging (if needed). Discount group-style (bunkhouse) lodging may be available.If you wish to volunteer as a ski or snowboard buddy, you will need to supply your own ski/snowboard equipment, but you will receive a lift ticket for each day that you volunteer as a buddy. To inquire about discounted lodging or ski/snowboard equipment, contact us.
Do I have to know how to ski or snowboard?
No. We have other volunteer opportunities during our Main Event and throughout the year.
Do I have to own skis/snowboard?
No. To participate in the family ski event, you can rent your own equipment. Contact us to inquire if a discount is available.
What must I do to volunteer?
• Complete and submit the volunteer application (see below)
• The Board of Directors will review/approve applications
• Upon approval, each volunteer must complete a background check.
After approval, information as to how to complete the background check
will be forwarded to you via email.You will have the option to complete the
background check yourself online. If you choose not to do the background
check yourself, you will need to contact us at the number included in the email,
so we can do it for you. However, if you utilize this option, we will need to
contact you for the personal information that is required to complete the check.
• Read and sign annual volunteer forms (Risk Liability and Volunteer Agreement
Contract, Conflict of Interest Policy and Affirm Conflict of Interest form)
